Low Cost Airline Rouge, the Air Canada Vacations New Airline

Air Canada has announced that their new airline is to serve Edinburgh as one of its launch destinations in summer 2013.

The new airline will start in July serving not only the Scottish capital but also offering flights to Venice, Athens, Jamaica, Cuba, Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic. There will also be flights from Montreal and Athens.

The flights to Edinburgh will be from Toronto and air Canada plan to offer special introductory flight deals initially for Canadian passengers.

The flights are being operated in conjunction with Air Canada vacations which is part of new leisure group called air Canada rouge. The new firm will have access to air Canada's extensive network of flights. The new carrier will launch initially with two Boeing 767s and two Airbus 319 aircrafts with plans to expand to more than 50 aircraft in the next 3 to 5 years. As the airline expands new flight routes will be added to destinations in the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Spain as well as central and eastern European countries.

This is a new low-cost airline and the aircraft will be equipped with a special wireless on demand entertainment system offering streaming facility to laptops and other electrical devices. By removing seatback screens it is claimed that it will lighten the aircraft and reduce maintenance costs as well.
